While there it was bombed in a German raid and he was evacuated for a time. McCutchion was born in Coventry, England, and attended the red brick-built King Henry VIII Grammar School. ![]() Popularly known as "Davidbabu", in his short life, he made a major contribution to the study of Hindu terracotta and brick temples of Bengal and was also one of the first scholars to write a study of the emerging field of Indian writing in English.
